Fishing Equipment

Winter/Spring - This time of the year the weather can change in a matter of an hour or two. The trick to keeping warm is layering. I will usually wear 2-4 layers during a normal spring day. The ability to take layers off and then put back on can make for a very comfortable day of fishing. I have gone to a Polortec outter shell to keep the wind off. Waders - the water is cold this time of the year and having a couple of loose layers helps the air flow under your waders. Make sure your wading boots are not tight also, some people use bootfoot wader to keep thier feet warm during the Spring, the average water temperature in the Spring is 39 degrees. The most important piece of equipment are your sunglasses, I recommend a brown pair of Polorized sun glasses.

Summer - The weather from mid May can be very nice but it can also get very hot. July and August can average the upper 90's, so bring pleanty of sun screen. The new fishing shirts give plenty of protection from the sun and also keep you cool. The water really never gets too warm the entire Summer so I don't wet wade. I wear gortex waders the entire season, I just wear a thin pair of sweats under my waders.
